Aquila New Nylgut  Soprano Ukulele Strings

Aquila AQ-4U Nylgut

Up first on our list of best ukulele strings is Aquila New Nylgut  This string set consists of 4 strings for soprano ukuleles.

Aquila decided to go original with their Nylgut strings and use a proprietary material instead of the traditional nylon. As they claim, these strings made of a three-piece plastic compound have better sounding than nylon. This is mainly due to their density similar to that of pure gut.In addition, the material stays in tune better.

To be honest, we readily believe these claims since Aquila has repeatedly proven their strings’ quality over the years.

Aquila also boasts the reduced moisture absorbency of the Nylgut strings, which should noticeably increase the stability of these strings’ sounding.

All this beauty comes with a price though: Nylgut strings are noticeably more expensive than regular nylon strings.

Aquila Super Nylgut AQ-4U  Ukulele Strings

Aquila Super Nylgut AQ-107 Tenor Ukulele Strings

Aquila Super Nylgut AQ-107 strings share the majority of their features with the AQ-4U strings we’ve just reviewed. This means that the performance of the two string models is very similar, albeit there is some difference in their durability.

Super Nylgut AQ-100 strings are more durable and stable than Nylgut AQ-4U strings. Likewise, they should require less frequent tuning. And the moisture resistance should also be better. If you value stability in strings most of all, then this set may be a good choice.

At the basics, Super Nylgut AQ-100 strings are identical to Nylgut AQ-4 strings. Made from the same gut-like syntheticmaterial. No required  to say that  they are designed to sound better and be more stable than regular nylon strings.

D’Addario EJ53T Tenor Pro-Arte Rectified Ukulele Strings

The set offered by D’Addario offers more traditional ukulele strings. The particular set on our review  was made for tenor ukuleles. However, there are options for other kinds of ukuleles as well.

D’Addario EJ53T ukulele strings are made from precision-rectified nylon. They are designed to deliver a warm and long-lasting tone, which should be very close to that of Aquila Nylgut strings.

However, EJ53T strings may be slightly less stable. In addition, their sound may be less full than that of Nylgut strings.

D’Addario strings do cost slightly less though, and this difference is going to get really big if you will order several packs. If you care more about price than sounding, this set may be a better choice.

D’Addario EJ87S Titanium Soprano Ukulele Strings

D’Addario EJ87S Titanium Ukulele Strings

And the last string kit on our list is D’Addario EJ87S. This particular string designed for soprano ukuleles.

The most notable feature of this kit is its material. Strings  made from titanium, which brings a modern, bright tone to the ukulele’s sound.

These strings don’t have the warmth of regular nylon strings, but maybe this is exactly what you are looking for. And overall, these strings are more aimed at clarity than at warmth.

What may be a serious advantage for you ? is that,  these strings are rather cheap. Due to this, D’Addario EJ87S is a nice choice for beginning musicians.

Conclusion

Ukulele strings aren’t that expensive. But if you wasted time on stringing the ukulele only to find that the strings aren’t good enough for you?

You need to choose ukulele strings as carefully as you would choose a ukulele. So even if you liked one of the string kits we reviewed, you should make sure that they are absolutely right for you.
